Amidst the closure of many small theaters in San Francisco, Sunset Solos advocates for thinking "outside the box" when workshopping solo performance pieces, challenging the notion that theater is confined to traditional venues. ———————————————————————————————— Kristen Cosby Title: When the Skeleton Does Not Stand Synopsis: Chronicling the intense bond between two siblings aboard their father's sailboat where they are physically tethered together. Their bodies and lives diverge as they grow. When one sibling suffers a paralyzing accident, the other begins a complex journey of grief, hope, and movement in order to embrace the fragile beauty of living bodies. A story told through memoir, spoken word, and physical performance. Bio: Kristen Cosby is a freelance writer, editor, educator and performer. Her work has received support from numerous artistic foundations including the Jan Michalski Foundation (Switzerland), the Corporation of Yaddo (USA), the MacDowell Artist Colony (USA), and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (USA). Her musings have appeared in several literary journals, magazines, and anthologies, and garnered the Normal Prize in Nonfiction and a Pushcart Prize special mention. Most recently she’s been telling stories on stage at the Marsh Theater, SF Playground, and as part of the Moth, Redwood Nights, Bawdy Stories, StageWerx’s Solo Sundays, and La Cocina’s Voices from the Kitchen.
