Achenbach Graphic Arts Council | Connoisseurship & Collecting Classes

These five object-based classes offer a rare opportunity to study works from the Achenbach collection in an intimate setting, deepening your understanding of works on paper through close looking, guided discussion, and direct engagement with curators and specialists. All classes will be held in the Roberts Seminar Room at the Legion of Honor from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Each class is limited to just 15 participants, ensuring a focused and interactive experience. To register for a class, select your preferred class date below, use the + icon to add one ticket, and click Add to order. To register for additional classes, click Change in the date section, select another class date, use the + icon to add that class to your cart, and click Add to order again. Those who purchase all five classes together will receive the five-class bundle discount, which will be applied automatically in the cart. The five-class bundle price is $1,200 for AGAC members and $2,000 for non-AGAC members. For non-AGAC members The five-class bundle includes a one-year AGAC membership at the $250 level. The Etruscans: From the Heart of Ancient Italy

Togas, temples, hydraulic engineering, winemaking, and even “Roman” numerals, all widely credited to the Romans, were actually Etruscan innovations. The Etruscans thrived in what is now Italy for almost a millennium, from around 900 to 100 BC, before the rise of the Roman Empire. They laid the foundation for present-day architecture, engineering, and artistic achievements. Yet their culture remains overshadowed by ancient Greece and Rome. Drawing on the latest archaeological discoveries and cutting-edge scholarship, this is the most comprehensive exhibition on Etruscan culture in the United States to date. Over 150 exquisitely crafted and well-preserved examples of bronze and terracotta sculpture, gold jewelry, ceramics, and architectural features, as well as the longest-surviving piece of Etruscan writing, reveal a legacy that continues to captivate today.
